No matter how comprehensive and complete a curriculum kit may appear to be at first, every teachers has to have some skills in creating materials and resources that meet individual student needs.  Here are a few of the things I've created.

Teacher-Made Materials

Inspired by a school-wide literacy campaign built around hats, I designed this bulletin board.  I drew the large hats (and the umbrella) and printed out book covers that corresponded with each kind of hat.  It was quite a success.

While I didn't actually illustrate the characters, I directed the animation, created the story, and even supplied the voices for this brief video about nonstandard measurement.

When a small group of 5th graders seemed to be running out of steam, I developed and created the Intergalactic Response League as a way of keeping them interested in remedial mathematics.  The IRL consisted of its very own website, an induction letter, and other exciting components that helped to encourage the students. Here is a lesson plan using the IRL.

In an attempt to take file-folder games to the next level, I designed this game to reinforce students' understanding of the survival techniques used by the ancient Calusa of Florida.

During my internship at Longleaf Elementary, I made this bulletin board for my supervising teacher.  I even made the tree by crinkling brown paper into the gnarled trunk and branches I needed.  It was tons of fun, and when I went back to the school the next semester, I was delighted to see all my hard work hadn't gone to waste - it was still being used!

To help review the events, characters, and vocabulary of the novel Freak the Mighty, I developed a Jeopardy game using my supervising teacher's amazing game system.  The students welcomed the change of review format.
